In this interview done backstage at the Newport Jazz Festival, saxophonist Wayne Escoffery talks about his work with trumpeter Tom Harrell and about what his unique about the bandleader and composer. This Grey Goose Vodka commercial uses Wayne Escoffery, his quartet, and his music as the focal point for their advertisement. The most striking aspect is that the spoken words and the audio are nearly entirely focused on the music itself. It is interesting to hear how the producers attempted to incorporate the bar sounds into the music.
"The Only Son of One" is Wayne Escoffery's first recording of all original music inspired by his childhood beginning in London, England. Wayne's new quintet featuring Orrin Evans, Adam Holzman, Hans Glawischnig and Jason Brown has brought his original compositions to life and the new CD will be available in April on Sunnyside Records.
