Escoffery’s newest album Alone released in August of 2024 reflects on love, loss, and solitude, and features a remarkable All- Star Quartet with Gerald Clayton, Ron Carter, and Carl Allen. The stunning new album is an atmospheric and haunting mood piece that has received 5 stars in the London Times, 4 stars in Jazzwise Magazine and 4 Stars in Downbeat Magazine. Black Art Jazz Collective is an extraordinary all-star sextet of African American musicians, celebrating Black culture through original music with unapologetic pride. Founded in 2013 by saxophonist Wayne Escoffery, trumpeter Jeremy Pelt, and drummer Johnathan Blake, these seasoned artists have made their mark on the global Jazz scene as leaders and valuable members of renowned ensembles led by Tom Harrell, Bobby Hutcherson, Kenny Barron, Wayne Shorter, Ron Carter and others. Black Art Jazz Collective came together during an important period of Black identity in American society and in the arts; one of finding new strength and identity within America’s true art form, an African American art form, Jazz. BAJC's music reflects the spirit of influential Jazz groups led by legends like Jackie McLean, Miles Davis, Woody Shaw, and Art Blakey. With a commitment to unity, integrity, and pride, their performances resonate with audiences, consistently earning rave reviews and filling venues with enthusiastic Jazz fans. The Collective’s first two albums Live at The Side Door and Armor of Pride featured saxophonist Wayne Escoffery, trumpeter Jeremy Pelt, trombonist James Burton III, pianist Xavier Davis, bassist Vicente Archer and drummer Johnathan Blake. For their acclaimed 2020 album Ascension. BAJC evolved their lineup with pianist Victor Gould, bassist Rashaan Carter, and drummer Mark Whitfield Jr. These musicians, with their impressive backgrounds, added new dimensions to the collective's sound and legacy of proud Black artistry. As they approach their 10th anniversary, Black Art Jazz Collective is set to release a remarkable new album, commemorating a decade of sharing their music and message worldwide. the band, and the current rhythm section. Joinjng the BAJC legacy are two exceptional trumpeters; Josh Evans of Christian McBride’s “New Jawn” band and Wallace Roney Jr., the son of the late trumpet master Wallace Roney. On Wayne Escoffery's composition "Truth to Power” - a piece originally commissioned by the Yale School of Music - Evans and Roney Jr. engage in a thrilling trumpet battle with veteran Jeremy Pelt.
